Why do we do what we do the way we do what we do? In a narrow sense, LLMs are superhuman. They operate at computerish speeds and can now churn out text in seconds or minutes, that a human would take hours to write, if they could write it all. Thusโ€ฆ

Dayside average (a) air temperature, (b) cloud ice, (c) cloud liquid water, and (d) graupel as a function of height in our M09 simulations for the surface pressure of 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 10 bar. The figure shows that with increasing surface pressure, the lapse rate becomes larger, the cloud water content diminishes, while the graupel content does not show a clear trend. Note that because the dry atmospheric mass differs between our simulations, the increase in the mass mixing ratios with pressure in this figure appears much greater than the increase in the vertically integrated cloud content shown in Figs 1(c) and 3.

Lightning activity on a tidally locked terrestrial exoplanet in storm-resolving simulations for a range of surface pressures ABSTRACT. Cloudy atmospheres produce electric discharges, including lightning. Lightning, in turn, provides sufficient energy to break down air molecules i

Fresh off the press: lightning activity in high-res simulations for TRAPPIST-1e! Just a nice little study that began as James's and Lottie's undergraduate research project. We find less lightning for higher surface pressures. It's only one model though!

Sarahโ€™s rules of looking for life with only chemical signatures:

1) the smaller the molecule(s) the more likely they can also be produced by abiotic processes

2) one molecule, if it can be produced by any abiotic process, will never be enough to definitively claim detection of life

K2-18b is back in the news, now with a bold claim that biosignature molecules (DMS and/or DMDS) have been 'detected at 3ฯƒ'.

Most exoplanet astronomers are extremely sceptical about these claims, let's see why (1/n).
