The course explores how religious coexistence between 1500–1800 could both ignite and prevent conflict, from Augsburg to Suriname, from Ireland to the Kingdom of Kongo. We’ll investigate the logic and discourse of escalation: when does tension rise, and when does religion become a force for peace?

Thank you for the warm welcome! Well, this was long overdue and we are glad to be here. The other place (nice choice of words, by the way) has become outright toxic and intolerable.
