Thanks Luke. I’m well chuffed. I’m doing a lot of ringing on buntings at moment which has been exceptionally good this year for them so hopefully get a few more controls this winter 🀞

The last few days has seen a huge movement of Chiffchaff here in West Dorset, most birds seen moving East mid morning through to early afternoon. Today a much quieter session with 30+Chiff ringed takes me to over 200 ringed since last week. Ringing weekend so interesting to see if numbers continue….

AQUATIC WARBLER!!! Still can’t believe we caught this stunner at Carey this morning! Made it worthwhile giving it a go between weather fronts. The bird was interestingly a good weight of 15g! #ukbirding

Stanford Reservoir - the ringing group deliver again. In crappy conditions with low bird numbers a 1st for the site & for Northants - BARRED WARBLER. Well deserved for the dedicated efforts of the group in their 50th year ringing at the site. Haven’t sweared so much for a while!!

Another superb ringing session this morning produced 72 new birds which 31 were Sedge & 9 new ReedW. During the week have ringed my 500th Sedge Warbler of the autumn. Absolutely amazing. Unprecedented numbers this year on site and bumper season for Acros. See what tomorrow brings….

A slow morning today despite what seemed ideal fall conditions at first light. Decent cloud cover, sea mist and light drizzle gave way to very few birds from the nets. 1st and 2nd net round the best with new Grasshopper, Sedge and Reed W, Whitethroat and single Tree Pipit.
