I personally like to add density into the lineart itself, with the thicker black lines representing the densest areas. For someone particularly hairy, the hair will actually obscure the shape of things like the pecs and abs, so i will paint over or erase chunks of the lineart to show the hair is laying on top of the body. Lines should overlap, especially in the thickest areas.
