On Feb 2, St. John's University admin informed us they were discontinuing the chem major with limited time to appeal. They sent an email to our chair at 10 am and then our current and incoming students at 10:30 am. No discussion with faculty. Same thing to physics, and other programs.

It’d add more time, but adding cut tofu to boiling salted water, removing the pot from heat, then letting it sit for 5-10 minutes before patting dry and frying gives excellent results (and the surface would still be damp enough for the spices & starch to stick). But if it works as is, no real need.

I agree & right now have little faith that we are getting the best guidance on how to comply in a way that won't require spending every waking minute (and then some) on it, nor do I have any faith that the institution will back us up if there is an issue.

But without institutions recognizing these parts of the requirements and stepping up to help us try to comply without using bad (and most likely badly implemented) tools, that sadly seems to be where we're headed.
