I have seen this happen with nearly all the left leaning creators I follow on there. Only been on TikTok the past year, so seeing it decay in real time has been...well it's sure been a thing.

I'm not saying everybody who is paid by orgs w/ opaque $$ is sus. And I know folks have bills to pay. I'm saying we would all do well to have a healthy dose of skepticism about big accts: who is leveraging them to shape the narrative? Who is behind the scenes pushing certain content? Who benefits?

Watching creators with accts similar in size to mine but who take $$ from dark $$ funded groups getting access to interview MY elected officials when I can't, watching them get boosted in the algo...it's the same game reconstituted. "Indie" media is just as bought and paid for as corporate media.

If you think the dark $$ in politics doesn't connect to the dark $$ in "new media" and creator spaces and isn't pushing a certain agenda...you are sorely mistaken. Those who criticize it get punished. Those who take it get access and promotion and $$$. Billionaires have their own agenda, y'all.

I just got paid this month by TikTok. I am making 1/12th what I made a yr ago. All of my content is insanely suppressed. The vid in the upper left is from a yr ago, over 400k views. That was typical then. Now I rarely crack 1k. Creators paid by dark $ get their content boosted and more of the CF.
