This was the most fun game jam I've ever done and I think it's because everyone was just so on it, to the point where we were coming up with meme ideas 🤣 often marketing isn't even thought about but our whole team was incredible and I'm so proud of the end result 🥹

My biggest takeaway is the importance of explaining /why/ something can't or should be done, especially when in a leadership position, to mitigate team frustration, disappointment and misalignment.

I survived Develop:Brighton but at what cost

before working in games marketing I did lots of jobs: commercial chef, security guard, pre-k teaching assistant, television extra - but my favourite was volunteer zookeeper for animal enrichment covering insects and reptiles (🐍🕷️ 🐛 🐢) plus small mammals like dingos, red pandas, meerkats and sun bears

went to a dog friendly screening of 28 Years Later and it was Hazel's first time in a movie theatre 🥹 she snoozed and cuddled the whole film, even while I was gasping and jumping lol

anyway film was a 4.5/5 imo, a little better than the first and miles better than the second

Yeah that was my issue too and then I made it worse the second time because I came back and remembered nothing 😅 but I started fresh the third time and pushed through - there is definitely a point in the story where the puzzle pieces fell into place and I was just vibing from there on

I wanted to love this game on launch so bad 🥺 it took three attempts but once it clicked omg I became obsessed with the world and mechanics - I hope you have lots of fun!!

Games PR can be tough but @thehashtagonist.bsky.social's advice is spot on: "when talking about organic coverage, you should always approach repping your game looking for a win-win situation ... if it only benefits you, you’ll likely have a rough time getting your game out there."
