(4/4) I understand that it's not viable for people to relocate again, but I implore content creators to foster independent communities by using something like Postybirb to mirror their creative works. Think of it as a back-up plan, and a service to the independent internet.

(3/4) I've been pretty vocal about my preference to Mastodon, but it could be just about any platform that does not operate on the principle of locking users in. I feel that Bluesky is the house made of straws that everybody fled to after the hay one was used for burning the cross.

(2/4) I've seen it so many times that I've grown to expect it. The number one thing that social platforms use to lock you in is to make moving out really, really hard. Just look at the amount of dumb-fuckery it took for people to look for alternatives to Twitter.

(1/4) I'm pretty adamant about supporting independent online services over manufactured user traps... These user traps get to you with a value proposition (free email!), become irreplaceable (my followers!) and finally move into unabashed exploitation (AI training! Sociopolitical influencing!).
