25.05.2025 16:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0regardless of what you decide, definitely treat yourself to something that people like and that feels quality. soldering, especially as a beginner, is highly influenced by the quality of your tool, and it's easy to get discouraged if you're using a bad quality iron.
25.05.2025 16:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Someone already mentioned the Pinecil, which I love, and which stores easily and isn't too expensive. This is the most used iron in our house, and we have several. It is easy to handle, and I taught a company workshop where this was the "first iron" for several people.

16.04.2025 13:07 β π 461 π 23 π¬ 18 π 4Portrait-oriented photo featuring a wooden post with a rusted hanger hook jutting out of it, and standing atop the post, triumphant and at least slightly indignant, is a plump little bluebird. The bluebird is a male, and we see the electric blue of his head, but the predominant part facing us is the coppery-orange and pale white front. He is standing amidst little pink-and-red tree blossoms, but I like to imagine these are instead the extracted organs of his enemies. So let's just pretend this bluebird stands vengefully astride a scattering of viscera -- gobbets of gore taken as a prize from his unnatural and invasive foes. I'm sorry I've really made this a gross photo. It's actually quite nice. Kind of a dreamy vibe to it, what with the wall of yellow forsythia blurring in the background, and here I am adding drippy bits and internal organs. I'm sorry. I'll do better next time. Probably. Everything is bad but birds are good so time to reinstitute BIRD PROTOCOL where a bird is deployed to offset endless evil vibes, please enjoy, birds are good, okay bye

28.03.2025 15:44 β π 730 π 101 π¬ 6 π 5Nine fluffy yellow balls of golden fluff, barely recognizable as chicks due to some tiny orange beaks and little black eyes visible in a couple places. They snuggle in a semi-pile around a cute red plastic farm truck in a bed of golden wood shavings. They look so comfy itβs like a pile of warm living tiny beanbag chairs.
Vital update!! confirming the baby chicks at the Chicago Museum of Science & Industry remain fluffy & delightful. Always good in troubling times to confirm civilizationβs most vital pillars still stand. (I do think Chicago really would crumble without them).

23.10.2024 17:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It definitely helps for a table loom with a lot of shafts. I was designing really complicated patterns and then realized I was never going to be able to execute them without assistance, so I built this. I'm currently weaving someone else's 8 shaft pattern and it's great--you can really zone out.

Blues are levers that should be flipped, whites are ones that shouldn't, and reds are ones that were previously down but now should be up. The color shifts slightly on each pick. This helps a lot in keeping track of the pattern.
