Beginning to worry about Mikey. He’s sleeping a lot more. And while he normally sleeps alone in his dog bed and the pack generally ignores him, the past 2 days the dogs have been essentially sitting vigil with him. At least I know that, he won’t be alone if he passes while we are asleep or away.

I unexpectedly lost a patient, very upsetting. Then I remembered sitting on the edge of the hospital bed with them and hugging them close because they didn’t feel well. I was the last person on this plane to hug them. I was genuinely present and actually really did care. What a fucking privilege.
