This is where it's nice to be the comet. Underway, on the move, and laying out the available dates for others to decide about. I don't always get to be with everyone I've ever wanted, but the people I love most tend to make it happen when I'm in their vicinity.

I like it for the relationship formation stage, but that's because it worked for me. I blurted "not monogamous" and "no kids" the night we met in 1996. The rest is ongoing history.

I'm 29 years into a committed open relationship and maybe that's because napping makes me cranky?

While living in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India, I got a pair of scissors like that for a friend thinking they were a particularly Indian design. She was delighted but did spill the beans about seeing them in US shops. Oh, well, she enjoys them to this day

I set an alarm for 5:30 am and it was clear! And then it wasn't.

Still talking like you know her.

If you're right, you're the one broadcasting her humiliation.

If you're wrong, for example if she's too firm in her self-respect to be humiliated by someone ELSE'S misdeeds, then you're broadcasting your own vulnerability.

You talk like his wife had no say. I have a feeling this is not something we can speak knowledgeably about.

Folks are folks is something I started saying as I did more traveling, and a corollary is that women are going to do power at their personal levels of desire...often at the expense of other women.

There are a lot of great comments on the OP's post.

Rhythm for Hire! Tony Scott and Mark Brzezicki, from Big Country. These guys were powerful and complex when it worked and held it down at the same time.

Oh, nice! I'll try that when I tire of my tzatziki on eggs kick. My tiny boat fridge can't hold too many kinds of dairy all at once.

Which, it's valid and often quite effective to call out a character (as the author) for laughing inappropriately, too easily, or just having a weird sense of humor. Character development!

On a bike, pedestrians are far more unpredictable and nerve-wracking to ride with. Hike and bike trails are glorious until someone suddenly decides to dart across for the ripe blackberries. I mean, I understand wanting to denude the hedge but I am moving at least 10-12 mph, maybe 16-20 if feeling it

Gay male is basically the only pairing/grouping I haven't written. I'd say thanks for taking up the slack but I know you've been at it even longer than I have

I hear you! That's a factor. The library thing just keeps my bank account balance safe 😎

I read mostly ebooks from the library and so I get on single-author kicks now and then. Free repeat pleasures! Last one was Rebekah Witherspoon with both kinky and vanilla romances, in case you think an author binge is something you'd be into.

Romance writers: profligate yet persnickety

I came here to say exactly this. My return of rights are clearly stated in my publishing contract, and I write queer/trans romance books! How are we ahead of the academics on this?

Her post..."I would like to write an Olde Fashioned Mystery one of these days -- a historical mystery actually -- with a particular flavour of non-bumbling but easily underestimated detective -- but I have not read enough mysteries to feel confident even attempting one right now!" I said read you!

And sorry, to be more precise, the setting makes it feel rather like a futuristic Baker St kind of a thing. Lots of fog.

Ummm, if reading some sounds good, Malka Older is a brilliant person writing mysteries. The Investigations of Mossa and Pleiti series, specifically. Setting is so good, as is the rest.

Walked 3.5 miles...the farthest in a while, since Red Hook was so bad for walking and biking! Patillas, PR is beautiful. The young women at the supermarket couldn't find us a taxi back so they worked it out for one to stay on the clock and drive us herself. So so nice.
