About 400 immigrant children were detained longer than the recommended limit, ICE admits Legal advocates concerned over the prolonged detention of immigrant children in federal custody are sounding the alarm before the federal court. U.S.

ICE is kidnapping and locking up little kids, denying them medical care, and feeding them contaminated food.

They aren’t going after criminals, they are going after Black and brown people, because this isn’t about immigration, it’s about white supremacy.

Early yesterday morning, a drone struck the center of Chernihiv in northern Ukraineβ€”damaging a building and rupturing a gas line, leaving families without heat. Within an hour, WCK was providing hot drinks, water, and food to residents gathered in a safe, warm space near the blast. #ChefsForUkraine

RFK Jr.’s CDC panel: No more hepatitis B vaccine for some newborns The CDC's vaccine advisory panel, stocked with anti-vaccine activists and loyalists to RFK Jr., voted Friday to stop recommending a birth dose of vaccine.

Kennedy's zombie ACIP panel just voted to restrict hepatitis B vaccine for newborns. Experts say it will harm children for no reason. www.ms.now/news/rfk-cdc...

ACIP member Dr. Cody Meissner:

"'Do no harm' is a moral imperative. We are doing harm by changing this wording. And I vote no."

the thing about extra-time accommodations is that either they help you a lot or they don't matter much, and if they help you a lot that is evidence that you should get them

Elon Musk’s Foundation Grows to $14 Billion, but Gives Little to Outsiders The philanthropy has become one of America’s biggest, but most of its giving went to charities closely tied to the world’s richest man.

Elon Musk’s charitable foundation grew larger than ever in 2024. But, for the fourth year in a row, the huge charity failed to give away the minimum amount required by law β€” and the donations it did make went largely to charities closely tied to Musk himself, who is the world's richest man.

Lopez Belloza made it through security but was stopped as she was about to board the plane, Pomerleau said. "They wouldn't tell her why she was being detained. She didn't understand it at all," Pomerleau said. She was then taken to the Burlington ICE field office, then flown to Texas, Pomerleau said.
The Department of Homeland Security and Babson College did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
After a frantic 48-hour search, her family received a call from her on Saturday from Honduras, a country she had not lived in since she was a child. The federal government had quickly deported her, the lawyers said, and Lopez Belloza had found her way to her grandparents' house and called her father.

Everyone with a platform β€” even a microscopic one like mine β€” should use their megaphone to promote other people’s great work. Particularly the work that’s not already big or popular or successful.

Always promote great work when you see it.

I feel like, "Why do Trump's doctors keep administering cognitive exams to him?" is a question the media might want to pursue, if for some reason they were inclined to apply the same standards to a Republican politician that they do to Democratic ones.

This whole thread is great, but yeah this is why the Nuzzi thing is so angrily lodged in my brain right now. Most of us follow the rigid ethical guidelines regarding trandparency, disclosures, etc. But it's the shady journalists/outlets who get the most money. That fucking hurts on multiple levels.
