First time I saw Alex she was dancing in a musical at The Near West Theater and I was blown away. She’s a treasure of this city and Ohio!

Sitting down with owner Stefan Was at Porco Lounge & Tiki Room, 2527 W. 25th St., was one of my most memorable interviews. He built something special there and credits his incredible staff for much of its success. A true believer in Cleveland & its stories. A true CLE Must Stop.

Since Jan. 2, 1980, B & G Tavern at 4150 Lorain Ave, Cleveland, OH 44113 has kept its doors open thanks to Benny Carmago, Venancio Carmago Jr. and Cynthia Camargo. No dress code. No ego. Just Ohio City history, resilience and a place Cleveland can always walk into.

Great talking with Steven Peffer at the former home of Hausfrau Record Shop, opened beside the Capitol Theatre in 2012. A favorite for serious music lovers. Now he moves to Ohio City, upstairs at Visible Voice Books at 4601 Lorain Ave. Same devotion to sound. Good luck, Steve.

Great meeting Jami & Janet Meglich at Cleveland Kurentovanje. We ran into each other outside Azman and Son's Market, remembering Frankie, the true king of sausage. A tribute, a survival story, a February day celebrating life on St. Clair. Cheers to old memories and new friends.

Great meeting Avery Helmick and Tristan Fisher of Mentor, CSU students, at The Brasserie in Playhouse Square. Loved hearing about their ASL class, school experiences, and exploring Cleveland. Hope to see them around town again soon!

Ran into Meechie Ford & Shad Curry Jr. in Ohio City on a cold February day. We talked local food spots, and I got a photo to mark the day. Guys were really nice and their style was confident. They were walking around looking for a great dinner spot- hope they found a good one.

Loved meeting Marri Smith of Cleveland, Sam Bania of Parma, & Gwyn Scanlon of Parma at the Hildebrandt Building Art Show. Several students heard about it through a Tri C art class, and for a few it was their first art show ever. A great first one, relaxed & full of good people.
