We ran a randomized controlled trial to see how much AI coding tools speed up experienced open-source developers.

The results surprised us: Developers thought they were 20% faster with AI tools, but they were actually 19% slower when they had access to AI than when they didn't.

NEWS: Judge McConnell is inclined to block the Trump administration from implementing its grants/loans freeze, but issued no order Wednesday.

The states are to submit a proposed order addressing concerns about wording given the rescission, then DOJ gets 24 hours to respond, then he will decide.

They are taking away the basis to challenge it legally and planning to do it anyway. It’s an attempt to avoid having their actions scrutinized by a judge and potentially having a ruling they don’t like.

In other words, an end-run around the law

Dems can:

-oppose all Trump nominees until this EO is withdrawn
-deny unanimous consent to slow senate proceedings
-vote no on all cloture
-force quorum calls at every chance

It’s a constitutional crisis. There is absolutely no reason the Senate should be connecting business as usual.

As someone who has reported on AI for 7 years and covered China tech as well, I think the biggest lesson to be drawn from DeepSeek is the huge cracks it illustrates with the current dominant paradigm of AI development. A long thread. 1/
