I used to think I didn't like books. I used to think I didn't like writing. I realized the problem wasn't where I thought it was. Now? I'm even writing a book and enjoying it immensely πŸ™‚

That's it. That's the post. I hope it helps someone.

πŸ”Έ Not watching TV in the evening. I'm particularly proud of this. Now we're only turning on the TV about an hour per day. And it's mostly (if not all) my daughter watching cartoons.

Since the beginning of the year, I've read 5 books. That's an average of 1 book/month.

I was looking back in time and that's roughly the same amount of books I've read from 2020 to 2024. 5 full years. ~1 book/year.

The secret? Well, a few:

Stripe added the ability to copy their docs pages (markdown) to clipboards to help people when they use LLMs etc.

This has now been added to EventCatalog, you can copy any page to clipboard, schema (Avro, Json, Protobuf, AsyncAPI, OpenAPI) to clipboards.

Hope it helps πŸ™

I like the intent but isn't JSON Type Definition already there? It's already an RFC and got lots of implementations in different languages.

05.05.2025 11:53 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

For definition, I'd use something like Avro or JSON Type Definition (definitely not JSON Schema). For validation, I'd use JSON Schema.

However, that would create more complexity. Not an easy task.

FWIW, you can use JSON Type Definition with AsyncAPI. It's true though that we default to JSON Schema Draft 07. If it was about me, AsyncAPI would have two fields for data structures: definition and validation.
