New research by the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis shows Japan is emerging as a major player in global gas trading, despite producing no liquefied natural gas of its own – and it’s all thanks to Australia.

We do not want war, but Australia needs to be ready. Read our experts’ verdict in full Watch the video of the debate on Australia’s defences.

It's sick, especially reading it this week.

"leaders [must be] honest with the Australian people about the real deterioration of our security environment."

3 years ago this week "experts" predicted war between Australia & China...within 3 years

China was our "greatest threat".

Remember that as the USA and Israel pile war on top of genocide.

Nice work @rodcampbell.bsky.social!

you can read Rod's account of the publicly discredited but perversely financially rewarded Rocky Hill mine economist here (another feather in the cap of Big4 consultant Ernst & Young aka EY?)

WA Labor Party policy is to ban fracking across all of WA

Fracking's already banned the Southwest, Peel & Perth Metropolitan regions & the Dampier Peninsula

BUT WA might allow Black Mountain Energy to frack in the #Kimberley⁉️

Keep up the pressure on WA EPA & Cook's WA Labor govt

Ultimately, the beer vs gas thing is a bit of a silly...pissing contest.

What's important is that Australians are not getting a fair return for all the Australian gas that multinational companies sell overseas.

The gas lobbyists weren't happy with this.

So they decided to compare beer excise with not just petroleum tax, but with company income tax and every other payment the gas industry makes to gov.

I fixed this one:

18.02.2026 02:03 β€” πŸ‘ 12    πŸ” 4    πŸ’¬ 4    πŸ“Œ 0

This all started with David Pocock's viral video from Senate Estimates, in which a Treasury official literally looks up the books and tells the senator that beer excise is bigger than petroleum tax.

A must-watch if you haven't seen it: www.youtube.com/shorts/UZln5...

Do beer drinkers pay more tax than gas companies?
Yes, they do!

Beer excise > PRRT
Beer drinkers' income tax > gas company income tax

Australia spent $26 billion on 'nature-harming' incentives in a year The federal government funds $26 billion of incentives each year that may be harmful to the environment and is yet to report on its international commitments, researchers say.

Enough giggling about Angus already!!

The Federal Gov is subsidising environmental destruction!!

What’s concerning is not that Angus Taylor has no policies or any idea,
but that according to Libs themselves he’s the β€˜smartest’ in their shadow cabinet.
The party’s now a joke, and he’s the punchline.

"The LNP were effectively giving Queensland's coal to Adani for free."

After the LNP abandoned a court case against Adani over unpaid coal royalties, it looks pretty dodgy that the data shows they received over half a million dollars in donations from Adani.
