Between '50 and 100 shots' discharged in Sydney shooting, man critical NSW Police say the alleged gunman had been "firing indiscriminately at passing vehicles including police vehicles".

There are more guns in Australia than ever before.

The gun lobby says it is "winning".

Howard-era promises remain unfulfilled and laws being weakened.

Expect more of this.

New government data confirms gas exporters continue to pay no tax

β€œIt beggars belief that a company like Santos can spend a decade selling almost $50 billion worth of gas and not pay a cent of tax on it," said @rodcampbell.bsky.social. #auspol

Always remember - gas companies hate selling gas to Australians and none of the proposals for new gas fields (which are not needed) will be for domestic use.

So do not buy any of the spin.

✍️ PETITION: Fix Australia's Gas Export Problem ✍️Sign the petition: Fix Australia's Gas Export Problem

The solution to this is easy:

1/ Stop unrestricted gas exports.

2/ Reduce Australian domestic gas prices with uncontracted gas.

3/ Make gas exporters pay their fair share of taxes and royalties.

4/ Approve no new gas projects.

The ACT would be wrong to copy new election finance rules which have been proposed federally and in South Australia.

Our research shows that a β€œreimbursement” model for public funding, as recommended by the ACT Electoral Commission, would favour wealthy incumbents at the expense of new entrants.

Today we remember 11 September 1973, where Chile’s democratically elected Allende govt. was overthrown in a military coup backed by Washington and facilitated by Australia’s intelligence services.

The result was Pinochet’s dictatorship that killed and tortured thousands.
