In December we paid Β£0.62/l for heating oil. On 02 March I thought "aye up" and ordered an unplanned ruinous fill up at Β£0.82/l.
I've just looked at the price today: Β£1.45/l. Bloody hell. But well done 02/03 me.
Previous highest was 20 October 2022 - Β£0.99/l. (Yes I'm that person).
I'm glad I don't eat out much. The odds are low.

1984 was a grand year for this purple. And I had a purple Dynastytastic shantung silk dress with huge shoulder pads and big gilt buttons in 1988/9. That's not very helpful is it? Soz. Also love this purple though.

You in another decade
Me 2007? - I used to organise a Spanish exchange every summer for about 5 years and it was the loveliest thing. I became Scottish mama to these babes and watched them grow up & fly.
I have tried Smol handwash & not a fan. Smells cheap & feels cheap & I never feel clean afterwards.
07.03.2026 12:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I've had my Dualit for 30 years. Hardly any plastic, not needed any spares yet, but it's almost entirely fixable when required. I reckon that outweighs any electricity consumption for the amount it consumes on a daily basis.
07.03.2026 12:45 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Johnny, a mighty fine and INCREDIBLY randy black rock cockerel, not yet a year old, looking in through some iron fencing which is protecting a nursery currant bed. The other hens are happily scratching about in there because the door is open while I spread their litter. However, Johnny's brain is smaller than either of his testicles and so, there he is, looking on wistfully.

I 'knew' a City of London Freeman: also a full-on wrong 'un. I did learn to drive a Massey Ferguson tractor though & was better at ploughing than him. I like to have a +ve takeaway from these escapades.

Yup. I've had that weird dissonance where I've enjoyed his subversive ribbing in documentaries with awful people, but coming away feeling muckier for it. Now I know why. Also people who use 'cleverness' as a shield. I reckon there are two types of clever folk: shielders & sharers. Sharers are A+++.

07.03.2026 11:10 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Leo has taken up residence on the bedroom sofa. To be fair, his actual doggy bed has been requisitioned by Henry, the cat chonk. Out of sight are the usual middens of not quite dirty and there's another day's wear in those clothes. Which is what all bedroom furniture is really for.
I'm off to clean out the chicklings - but behold how FINE Leo, a dog looks bathing in the Spring sunlight. He is a mighty handsome boy.
