To be fair I’d pay 5$ for an add on that would just let me make a compass and map for the driver when he’s on foot.

New things for the auto shop like proper lighting and closing the garage door.

I do believe the culture of microtransactions has negatively impacted gaming in every way short of shareholder profitability and I’ve accepted DLC is today’s “expansion pack”.

With that said I’d throw stupid piles of money at Ironwood Studios for add-ons to Pacific Drive.

I think what people who have issues with the save system miss is, go to the game settings. Whatever anxiety you have around what losing a run could mean can likely be addressed by what is probably the most extensive list of game customizations I’ve ever seen shy of a mod community.

If you lost that tension around losing a run then the excitement of the game would be severely impacted. At least that’s how I feel. Preserving the risk reward dynamic of the gameplay loop trumps what minor conveniences any save concession would make.

Was a great read. Funny enough until I saw discussions online about the save systems for the game I didn’t even think about it and just accepted it at face value. Having read through everything, still feel the same way. It’s great the way it is.

But again I agree completely the game doesn’t need quick saves. It also doesn’t need auto save but if the devs were gonna give in and add something it would need to be done in a way that can’t be abused. Kinda like Skyrim auto saves that would trigger after 5 min and only if you opened your menu.

I also know exactly what you mean. My loot goblin mode ended as soon as I got into the mid zone. Unless it’s perpetually stable I’m flooring it the whole time. So recovering from a failed run isn’t a whole evening lost.

An effective auto save system should inhibit scumming but I agree finding the right time to trigger them is tough. You either load your auto save or it’s wiped out when you load a hard save. So I guess the most you could save scum is back to the start of a zone to avoid complete failure?

The game doesn’t need quick saves but I wouldn’t be upset about auto saves. Maybe after 5 min if you menu, stop the car, or something. This way if I need to leave the game mid zone run, I don’t have to start the whole run over, but it’s not a feature I absolutely need or even notice I miss.

My mom sent this picture she had of me from 1991 playing Galaxy Force II Super Deluxe at the arcade in Coney Island. Asked her if she recognized what I was playing. Took a little over 30 years to come full circle. This will be hell of a fun restoration project.

Apparently I was due for Tetanus too so my arms will be sore for days, but not during the convention.

Am I excited to go back to Blizzcon again after all these years?

Sure.

But what I’m mostly excited about is I can finally continue my journey to my free Italian ice. This card was already on its third year in 2019.

Considering we’d need to pay to do it on twitter by that time, hell yeah.
