A constituent called me to tell me about their son battling colon cancer. They're at the point where they need to start clinical trials, but none are available because of Donald Trump's cuts to NIH.

The heartbreaking reality is that my Republican colleagues fear Trump more than they fear cancer.

Jumping through hoops and bending over backwards to prove my insurance company paid my medical bills is fucking exhausting. And stupid. And if you aren't double and triple checking your medical bills, you may be paying thousands more a year than you should. Ask me how I know.

One of the things I miss most about daily social media use is engaging in arbitrary battles over seasonal candy with people like @electmikeingram.bsky.social — who probably doesn't even like Peeps.

Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.
