First major release since I started using Proxmox, I think I'll wait for a 9.0.x release before I give it a try.

This is interesting. I wonder if it'll be effective.

Listening to this today seems appropriate. Happy birthday to such an influential machine/platform.

Adventures in daily driving Linux, video editing.
I wanted to use Resolve as that's what I was using on WIndows and after finding scripts to run the linux version in a container so it thought it was running on Rocky Linux it fired up. Unfortunately the free linux Resolve is unable to handle H [β¦]

I've just pulled this much fluff out of my laptops fans. That'll explain why it was running so hot!

A woman with an indian accent called me saying they were from Sky (they didn't say if it was Sky TV or Sky Broadband, keeping it vague) saying they were calling about my service.
I said OK.
They asked if I was having any issues or problems with the service [β¦]
Thanks for all the input. I think I hadn't seen the banner mentioning active development.
Still, I'm happy to give it a go. I do have a 3-2-1 backup system in place and I'll keep my current phone photos syncing with that and Immich.
Geek question: do you use immich.app for photo backup and library purposes ?
I've recently set it up and it seems good, but are there any gotchas I need to know about before committing to it as my main photo library ?

Remote patching when you don't have physical access to the hardware is risky, even more so when you don't have any kind of duplicate of even emulator locally.
This is a great indepth explanation of patching the software on Voyager 1 while it's out in interstellar space! [β¦]
"It might be an SD card issue, try using a SanDisk one"
translates to me as
"The firmware isn't written very well and we only tested using a small subset of cards, specifically SanDisk. We'll blame the SD card anyway".
Some of these games are incredibly impressive for the hardware.

I love how accessible this information is now.

I managed to pick up a working Amiga/ST mouse from eBay for under a tenner shipped.
I'll pop this broken mouse in a 'spare parts' box. It may live on in parts through donating components to other hardware.
It looks like I've got a keyboard membrane to attempt to repair.

Did some diagnosis of a faulty Amiga mouse today. While the buttons worked the mouse pointer wouldn't move.
After a bit of reverse engineering and investigation it seems the issue with up-down is a bad solder connection on one of the IR LEDs which [β¦]

The machine is an old Dell desktop repurposed as a server. The network card is an rtl812b that I've added in, but the machine still has an onboard 1gb nic. I'll enable the onboard nic to see if this also fails at the same time.
I've got a linux server (running proxmox) that is randomly dropping offline. It's still has a link on the network, and will power down gracefully if I hit the power button. It's not in a place where I'm able to plug in a keyboard and monitor.

I think I've just got my first spam on Mastodon, a 'quite public' message asking me to buy some hardware for a complete stranger.
Well done to that user, it's pretty hard to be first at something these days.

It seems I spoke too soon. I've had this machine stop responding over the network and the logs show an error in the network driver:
I've switched back to the r8125 driver so see if it's more stable.
