Really sad to see a group of 4 whales seemed to have beached themselves in Japan during the tsunami waves. Unknown if it’s related.

So far the tsunami seems to be less than predicted. But to look at Crescent City, CA 👀. Because of the geology around the bay even small events can yield high surges. Be safe and evacuate.

Yes tsunamis less than a meter can do that, since they are not waves in the traditional sense but surges with km of water pushing behind them.

The observed Tsunami wave is 30cm, just under 1ft.
