Johnny MAGA appears to actually be a White House staffer named Garrett Wade who works for the Trump administration as a rapid response manager, helping to run the very same White House account his anonymous MAGA account amplifies. A phone number associated with Wade is linked to Johnny MAGA, according to a WIRED review of publicly available records, and the connection was confirmed by a source close to the White House. Wade and the White House did not respond to requests for comment.
The Johnny MAGA account was created in September 2021, according to its X profile. (It originally used a different handle, which referenced Wadeβs birth year, according to records reviewed by WIRED.) While the accountβs earliest available posts focused on NFTs, it has been a consistent pro-Trump presence since at least 2022. The operator of the Johnny MAGA account has not disclosed an official relationship with the White House while operating the Johnny MAGA X account. Multiple media outlets, including Mother Jones, TownHall, and the New York Post, have all linked out to posts on the Johnny MAGA account seemingly as organic reflections of public sentiment on political issues.
This is very good reporting that sheds light on just how small the extremely pro-Trump online right really is. The online right is totally astroturfed. The White House's own staffers are running meme accounts to make them look more popular than they are. www.wired.com/story/a-whit...

What's more shocking than ICE's plan to cram as many 8,500 humans into massive, soul-crushing warehouses?
Seeing the actual DHS floor plan that echoes slavery ships and history's worst gulags with no rec space but a gun range for guards

This was a great convo. @polphilpod.bsky.social pushed us into deep territory: The theoretical underpinnings of Miller's worldview, how Trump's unpopularity on immigration gives Dems a big opening, and why we must drive home the point that the GOP should never be trusted on immigration ever again:

No working bathrooms for weeks. Not enough food. Denied access to an attorney. Tortured if you refuse to volunteer to be deported.
These are concentration camps. Shut them all down.

NEW: ProPublica went inside the detention center for immigrant families in Dilley, Texas.
Children held there told us about the anguish of being ripped from their lives in the United States and the fear of what comes next.
ICE has now spent over half a BILLION dollars just on purchasing warehouses around the country to convert into detention camps.
If these mega-camps are utilized to the full capacity ICE intends, they'll be the largest prisons in the country, with little real oversight. www.ajc.com/politics/202...

Trump has already fired or forced out nearly 200,000 workers. Now they are slashing protections for thousands more.
Federal workers keep our govβt running and ensure the American people get their Social Security, VA benefits, and Medicaid. This is ridiculous.
