It’s weird how things went from student protests at the hike in fees in 2010 - I recall parliament forced to meet behind barricades - to students using food banks in 2024. Where’s the student/campus movement fighting this?

During Great Historical Revolutions of The Past That Get People All Excited, somewhere around 70 to 80 percent of the population just stayed at home & grew their own food until the worst passed*.

That won't happen now.

*Or, if they were unlucky, turned up on their doorstep & killed them.

Notice that all these graphs start shooting up at the time of widespread adoption of fossil fuels.

This is why "Ponzi Scheme" is a useful frame to understand modernity - HUGE benefits, the illusion they will continue forever, but the reality that all the gains are hollow, & doomed to collapse.
