A recreated WWII-era Polish street scene. It features real pieces of rubble from the Royal Castle of Warsaw which was destroyed on Hitler's orders.

A uniform worn by Home Army resistance fighters. These uniforms were cobbled together from salvaged or captured pieces of clothing. They might include parts of uniforms originally used by police officers or postal workers.

A variety of weapons and equipment used by Home Army fighters.

The Warsaw Rising Museum is a must for anyone wishing to understand Poland. It documents anti-Nazi activities by the Home Army and other resistance groups constituting the Polish Underground State.

Buildings, streets and homes are preserved. You can view weapons and uniforms from the era.

It's a novel experience to see the woods without snow. It feels like years!

At this spot in Sadul, Warsaw, we saw the seasons crossing paths. Winter is saying its goodbyes while spring arrives cheerfully, bringing hope and new life along with it.

Part of the canal is still frozen over, but ducks are enjoying the water where it's already thawed.

LITERATURE: Polish literature is seriously underrated. The title of our page alludes to a book by Polish writer Ryszard Kapuściński because of our admiration for his work. We want to share recommendations for other great Polish books.

HISTORY: To understand a country, one must understand history. The history of Poland is deep and complex. Stories of tragedy and horror coexist with tales of resistance and hope. We share historical details from the streets of Poland, along with information about important museums and books.

FOOD: Pierogi and pickles are good but they aren’t everything. We share what we love to eat with you; from traditional soups and cakes prepared at home to vegan ramen enjoyed in a Warsaw restaurant.

NATURE: Over 30% of Poland is covered by forest. We love to walk in the woods or by the river and share our experience with you. Even Polish cities have a special connection with nature, and regular streets are often visited by wild boar and other interesting creatures.

Finally, the weather has turned! In Praga Południe, Warsaw, the sun is shining brightly and the temperature is in the double figures. A few traces of ice and slushy snow and clinging to the ground, but they should be history soon. We can't wait to enjoy the warmer weather.

Pałac Czapskich in Warsaw is a distinctive building with its bright, rococo style. Once frequented by famed artists, poets and composers, its now hosts part of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts along with a restaurant.
