Back Again, Again
Writing in 2026? I don't know...
Hello, I'm Jan, the guy who made this account! I wrote this post about what it means to be a writer in a foreign country and changing times. If you would like to check it out and maybe subscribe to my Substack for free, I would be honoured. π

A recreated WWII-era Polish street scene. It features real pieces of rubble from the Royal Castle of Warsaw which was destroyed on Hitler's orders.
A uniform worn by Home Army resistance fighters. These uniforms were cobbled together from salvaged or captured pieces of clothing. They might include parts of uniforms originally used by police officers or postal workers.
A bunker built by Nazis in occupied Warsaw, later captured and used by Home Army resistance fighters.
A variety of weapons and equipment used by Home Army fighters.
The Warsaw Rising Museum is a must for anyone wishing to understand Poland. It documents anti-Nazi activities by the Home Army and other resistance groups constituting the Polish Underground State.
Buildings, streets and homes are preserved. You can view weapons and uniforms from the era.

It's a novel experience to see the woods without snow. It feels like years!

At this spot in Sadul, Warsaw, we saw the seasons crossing paths. Winter is saying its goodbyes while spring arrives cheerfully, bringing hope and new life along with it.
Part of the canal is still frozen over, but ducks are enjoying the water where it's already thawed.

LITERATURE: Polish literature is seriously underrated. The title of our page alludes to a book by Polish writer Ryszard KapuΕciΕski because of our admiration for his work. We want to share recommendations for other great Polish books.

NATURE: Over 30% of Poland is covered by forest. We love to walk in the woods or by the river and share our experience with you. Even Polish cities have a special connection with nature, and regular streets are often visited by wild boar and other interesting creatures.

Flooded beds in the Rose Garden (RΓ³ΕΌanka) in Szczecin after rain fell on frozen ground; shallow pools of water surround dormant rose bushes, with icy surfaces reflecting bare winter trees and a pergola in the background under a grey sky.
Jasne BΕonia in Szczecin partially flooded due to rainwater unable to soak into frozen soil; a large sheet of standing water covers the lawn, where seagulls gather, reflecting the green faΓ§ade of the Town Hall (known locally as the βSpinach Palaceβ) beneath overcast winter clouds.
Floodwater spread across the grass at Jasne BΕonia in Szczecin after rainfall on frozen ground; seagulls stand on the shallow water and thin ice, with leafless trees, parked cars and residential buildings mirrored in the reflective surface.
A flooded patch of lawn behind Szczecin Town Hall (the Spinach Palace), with muddy meltwater pooling around bare trees and a black lamppost, reflecting the surrounding green historic buildings and parked cars on a grey winter day.
Itβs The Thaw Part II in #Szczecin, where the temperatureβs suddenly gone up, itβs started raining, and all that water has nowhere to go as the ground is frozen solid, so weβre doing our own version of Swan Lake but with Gulls πΉ

Also, I had it in mind to contact you at some point to ask if you'd be interested in being interviewed for an article or collaborating on something about Jewish history in Poland. Not trying to pressure you if now is a bad time, but maybe it will be of interest to you! Best wishes. Jan

Hi, I really enjoyed reading your article recently about AI depictions of Auschwitz. I've thought about it and your work a few times over the last few days, so maybe it helps to know your work has made an impression? Jan
