Shocking isn't it! No depths to which they won't sink. But ultimately it's for the Government to control this. Profit maximisers will generally always profit maximise. And profits are higher in monopolistic gas and oil even though renewables are cheaper.

Well done @alicemlabour.bsky.social for saying it like it is. Renewables are better, cleaner, cheaper, and will make this country more prosperous and end our reliance on dictators.

As the US spirals out of control, let's be clear who the architects of this chaos are. A fossil fuel industry hell-bent on preserving its destructive business.
Yet in the UK, their lobbyists roam the palace of Westminster with privileged access to ministers. At what point will we say enough?

I should add that I woudn't want to put anyone off cycling in Brittany. It's still a brilliant place to go. Super quiet roads, no potholes, beautiful historic towns, an amazing network of disused railway cycle paths. We cycled from Roscoff via Le Faou, Quimper, Pont Aven & Huelgoat.

It needs more than one or two brave politicians. We need a major government to stage a public science briefing on the imminent threats weβre facingβlike they did with covid.
Government silence creates a vacuum so easily filled by disinformation.

If the world adopted a plant-based diet, we would reduce global agricultural land use from 4 to 1 billion hectares
We could reduce the amount of land used for grazing and croplands used to grow animal feed.
Good point. There are so many more of us now, and meat is no longer a treatβso we're keeping far far too much livestock, putting everything out of balance.
You only need a quarter of the land to feed people on a plant-based diet. So eating less meat would take the pressure off.

Warning over 'dirty secret' of toxic chemicals on farmers fields
Campaigners say that farmers' fields are being contaminated by chemicals and microplastics in sewage sludge.
Not good. And if Netherlands is similar to the UK, farmers may also be spreading sewage sludge, containing hormone altering pharmaceuticals and high concentrations of microplastics which grow into the crops.
