Yeah I will retract my statement of using CachyOS. I would say it's a good stable option, but it's an actual linux-like experience where you will use the terminal. For users who are more used to windows and want a similar experience, I agree with using Mint 100%

Anyways, TL;DR, my recommendation is CachyOS with the Plasma desktop environment. It just works and is easily highly customizable

Arch itself is a pain to install, CachyOS is easy. As for gaming stuff, the welcome menu has a button to download all the gaming dependencies at once (likely not even necessary if you're just using Proton through steam but I'm not sure).

Cachy is also focused on performance and can make good use of your hardware. It also has some customized versions of software that squeaks out a bit more performance as well. Arch is just simply faster than Debian-based distros like Ubuntu or Mint.

Want to install a program? Type "paru <app name>" in the terminal and then you'll be shown results. Pick the one you want and you're done. Want to uninstall a program? "paru -R <app name>" It's that simple.

Everything just worked, no week-long setup. You have access to AUR which allows you to easily install pretty much any known program in the terminal (I may be exaggerating but I haven't found a program yet that I couldn't install through AUR)
