Section titled “COVID-19 Wastewater Surveillance Program.” Text explains that trends are shown for Bondi, Liverpool, Quakers Hill, and Burwood Beach (Hunter) wastewater catchments from August 2024 to the week ending 7 February 2026, with a link to the NSW Health wastewater surveillance website. The interpretation states that gene concentrations per 1,000 people are low in all catchments. Below, four line charts (Figure 11) display normalised SARS-CoV-2 gene concentration per 1,000 people over time for each location. All sites show higher peaks in late 2024 and mid-2025 followed by a general decline, with low and relatively stable levels by early February 2026.

Why COVID-19 is “a vascular disease masquerading as a respiratory one”

“The virus enters through the airways but exerts its systemic effects through the vasculature, the common denominator in the lungs, heart, kidneys, and brain,” Benest tells The BMJ.

Portugal, Germany and Thailand Re-impose Covid Testing for Arrivals from China

As XBB.1.5 spreads rapidly, several governments are bringing back pre-departure COVID testing for travelers from China. Portugal now requires a negative test within 48 hours and will add wastewater sequencing on flights.
