I didn't think I would like Evangeline in Amazing Spider-man Torn, but something about her origin and design do make her an easy fit into the early-ish rogues gallery. She could be too close to a goblin design, but isn't. Hope she survives to appear in the present day somehow.

I think that sometimes we forget that it is ok for comic books to be neat. Or make you feel pretty good. The current Supergirl series reminds me of that. Especially issue 7. Move over King Shark, its Princess Shark week this week. I'd love to see more people interacting this series as it exists now.

There's a very cool & genuine note from @dantrachtenberg.bsky.social in the new Predator Badlands prequel comic out this week. I wonder if @ethansacks.bsky.social got to see the movie early to be able to write this early mission of Dek. Predator Badlands is a theater grade movie so see it soon!

It feels like everything @ashcanpress.com has written led up to We're Taking Everyone Down With Us. Not a wasted or clunky line in the finale. If you missed the issues, get the graphic novel. Its Bond, Venture Bros, & a lot more. The ending will remind you what this always was in case you forgot.

While I kinda grew up with it ambient, I'm far from a Predator fan. But a friend wanted to see it. This was a pretty good movie. No real notes. It followed its rules, explained itself along the way for new people. I especially connected with Dek's frustration with situations unfolding around him.

A customer just started on Birthright recently and I pitched him Nail Biter yesterday. He asked if @joshuawilliamson.bsky.social had any other comics out right now and I said that indeed he does!

Assorted Crisis Events 6 is heavy. A woman's husband is disconnected with linear time. He's very young, very old, or himself. Her stress & sense of loss,his confusion & frustration. A real eye opener for those who know others living with loved ones with dementia. A stand alone issue that ends well.

Cyclops & Magik (Darkchild) engage in a high stakes duel in Age of Revelation Amazing X-men 2. A fantastic and creative verbal duel of truths that hurt. So things get said. I was not for AoR, but I have to say this is another good issue especially if you like Cyclops & his role with the X-men.

Harley & Ivy Life & Crimes 1 was great. @ericafails.bsky.social entirely captures the characters where I automatically hear Arleen Sorkin & Diane Pershing. If you've ever enjoyed these characters, or know someone who does, look for this one this week! And put in a preorder for the other issues.

Every issue of Legacy of Vader is better than the last. Issue 10 has Kylo Ren seeking a rematch with Luke Skywalker via the ambient powers inside Vader's Castle on Mustafar. There is much he doesn't understand & wow moments await. This could be your first issue so sample it to see what goes on!

To me jumpscares are nearly impossible to achieve in comic books. Not a literal jump, but rather a surprise shock. Nice House on the Lake could do it, Locke & Key could do it. Crownsville, the new @bishop1888.bsky.social comic, can do it. The Bonetti art & color hit disturbing notes.

Finally remembered to make my Giant-Man and Galactus festive. Wish Galactus could be posed better but even as a zombie he just stands and aura farms.

There's some very creative and cinematic panelwork from David Baldeon in Voyuer #2. To show the movement of a character, also the passage of time and memories recalled. The choices caused me to take note, so I'd say it was successful. Plus the story by @iamhandaxe.bsky.social story is compelling!

I also watched the Creature From the Black Lagoon for the 2nd time this weekend. What an impressive movie. The Milicent Patrick design really comes to life & Ricou Browning's underwater stuntwork while wearing the suit is incredible. Plus, the creature is relentless. If you haven't seen it, see it!

After searching the timestream, Raina has finally found her family in the year 2024, on Halloween no less. Despite being the antagonist, she has a cool design and personality, so I hope she sticks around in some way. If you've been away from the Rocketfellers series, pick back up with issue 10.

A new Battleworld has formed and this time it isn't the Beyonder's doing, but still someone powerful enough to make it happen. The assembled character for this Secret War are highly creative choices. I can sell @christosgage.bsky.social is having a good time on this series.

Sixth Gun Battle for the Six has been one of the most exciting comics of 2025 for me. Sixth Gun was a must-read around 2010 & I hope those fans saw this sequel, but I also hope new ones, BPRD fans, did too. I can tell @cullenbunn.bsky.social & @brihurtt.bsky.social put their all into this once again

I've never seen Supernatural, but @gregpak.com made a comic I could easily follow & also enjoy. I remember nobody being into the original Supernatural comics, then they became highly in demand. I hope fans of the tv show realize this comic is out Wednesday & get on it immediately! Set up a preorder!

This new take on Sigurd Jarlson in Mortal Thor is not to be trifled with! By pure coincidence, he's kind of the Absolute Batman of the Marvel Universe and nobody's quite noticed. Check out Mortal Thor 1-3 and see what you think.

The Absolute Batman annual was a great read. @danielwarrenart.bsky.social works his magic with heavy hitting action against deserving targets bookended by very real introspection into who this Brice Wayne is and how he carries his terrible pain. A great issue to sample & see what the hype is about.

Synthetics is a slow build to sharp scifi with great dialogue from @straczynski.bsky.social. Earth is rapidly becoming uninhabitable & those still living try their best to survive. But those who knew it would be this way are working on something forbidden. There's some Evangelion-esque themes here.

I saw Weapons this weekend and I'm really not sure about that one. Reading comics for a lifetime, I get that sometimes a thing just happens, but there are so many unanswered followup questions. Either way it is a pretty unforgettable and creative movie.
