Both teams have been poor today. Leicester have barely shown up and I'd argue Maresca's dtrange 3-1-5-1 formation just hasn't worked. Chelsea are winning because they have better players - but they've been well below their best.

Villa considerably better in the second half in a 4231 with Tielemans providing the between-the-lines passing option I was talking about. Gave Villa a foothold - and then he provided the assist for the equaliser in that inside-right position

Worse still, Konsa and Cash don’t seem to know when to get tight to Gil or who is supposed to track Udogie. Emery needs to get Carlos off and Ramsey or Tielemans on and swap it around

Normally Kamara would be to the right of a back three, too, so basically Villa have lost two technical players from their usual build-up play

Emery has got his team selection all wrong here. Ball getting stuck at Konsa and Cash, who can’t build out between them. Villa need another CM in that right mid slot to come infield. Without that, Villa cannot pass forward and Spurs find it too easy to funnel Villa into a dead end around Konsa.
