Today Virginia resident Sophia Maltas was sentenced to 45 days in jail for hitting and killing 24-year-old Nina Larson as she was crossing Columbia Road NW in a crosswalk in November 2021. The sentencing hearing was emotionally wrenching and difficult.

I've watched each morning as the White House destruction progressed. Truly heartbreaking to witness.

A D.C. resident is suing the city and a private company for $500,000 each over claims that one of the company's vans was parked in a downtown bike lane, forcing the resident (who was on bike) to swerve into traffic where he was hit by the trailer on a D.C. government vehicle.

The Posse Comitatus Act forbids using the military as law enforcement against civilians. Deploying the military to occupy American cities violates the law. Period.

Anyone know why the pedestrianized stretch of Pennsylvania Ave north of the White House is closed off with tall wooden barriers?

I work across from the Treasury and frequently see what appears to be a dumbwaiter moving between floors inside the windows above the 15th St entrance. Does anyone know its history or what it's currently used for today?
