Up until 1979 all hurricanes were named after women - and it led to very predictable "Anchorman" like sexism - about the storms "changing their minds constantly" and worse
Then an activist called Roxcy Bolton started popularising the term "himmicane" - much to the distress of misogynists everywhere
Massive away win for the little fella.

There was a clear difference of political opinion between the two but in private they could put political views aside to have respectful discussions over a coffee, or on occasions, something stronger.

Very much agree. I actually just wrote a piece on exactly that!

He struggled to read the oath, the judge just said something like "that's no good, clerk dismiss him and release him from JS. He won't be any use to us".
He left with his shoulders slumped, I never saw him again.
I now sit with adults learning to read. I hope he also found support from someone

I had just turned 18 when selected for Jury service. I started to speak to a guy in his early 20s whilst waiting to be called. He expressed concern over reading the oath. At my age I didn't say much apart from "I'm sure it will be ok". We both were selected.
X/Twitter is the basket case, I just lie in one.
