Here’s @danieldylanwray.bsky.social with an early copy of his book Groovy, Laidback & Nasty. With over 150 original interviews, it's the first ever truly definitive history of Sheffield music and the city’s incredible array of artists, movements and moments. Out 7 May: geni.us/GroovyLaidba...

I had a quick look as was intrigued, but there was only one council I could find that were offering the LAMS, and then I needed up on an Irish website before I noticed everything was in euros. Good luck with it!

Also, and not the worst thing he’s done, but he’s wearing his cap in church.

I work for a large LA, and am in the finance/benefits arena and it’s not something I’ve ever heard of. Google seems to point to LAMS existing in some areas, but more as a way of guaranteeing a mortgage, rather than providing them. Not sure this helps…

A 6 by 6 grid of drawings of Fall records.

A 6 by 6 grid of drawings of Fall records.

Last week I decided to listen to all the Fall studio albums in order, and draw any I hadn’t already drawn.

Including β€˜Slates’ that took me to 32 pics… Not enough to make a satisfying square grid.

Which other releases to complete the grid? I went for some of the part live/part studio albums.

I think this is finished!

My painting is based on one of the last photos taken of Lennon and McCartney together.

Ah yes, I remember you posting that guitar. Another great find! Here’s a picture of a copy of a clipping Barry (I’m guessing he was pushing it with the length of his hair!) kept with the guitar.

In a similar theme, this is from the inside of my J40, though not as good as on the Verithin.

Yep! Swee Lee, Singapore! I’ve actually changed the bridge on it, as it came with a tremolo/vibrato bridge, but the angle of the strings was too shallow. I’ve still got the trem, so can restore to original condition.

It’s lovely and inamazing condition. Barry, who originally had it, sailed home left the navy and then it lived in its case for the next 40 years.

Excellent! I’ve got a 60s Verithin that my dad’s friend gave him, which he bought in Singapore when stationed there whilst in the Navy in the 60s (played in the ship’s band so the navy gave them moment for gear!) and it sounds great.

I don’t *try* to buy loads of guitars, but when the seller sends an even lower offer on their already keenly priced 1960/1 Hofner President with the serial number 666, it’d be rude not to.

Velvets first live review of 1970, 16th January in the Chicago Tribune. Bold move for a daily newspaper to liberally quote the lyrics from Heroin.

The Beatles didn’t need a roof to be on top. But there they were Jan. 30, 1969 - 57 years ago today - playing without a gimmick atop 3 Savile Row, a venue needing no fabrication, ending a film and adding an iconic image to their legacy. Happy Rooftop Day, everybody! Context now, rewatch notes later🧡
