I am finding it weird that the red-bellied black isn't getting more love. I wonder if it's known by another name these days?

Oh yah... I remember a story about a SADF patrol that killed a mamba on the way out, and on the way back the mate was waiting for them. And Boomslang are such pretty snakes.

Yep. I knew that.. that was my point about Eastern Brown's. Utter bastards of snakes.

Yeah, in Oz the Eastern Brown's are deadly, and they get aggressive during mating season. They'd eat mambas. Safest assumption is all spiders and snakes are deadly.

ok, that's cruel, but i wish I had known at 25 what I know now. Especially all the things not to waste time on...

I've been tempted.. believe me, would just need an SA passport to add to my UK & Oz ones. 😀 but I can't get used to all the security. When visitors come from SA they wince about unlocked doors, open windows and total lack of concern about crime.

But it will be rubbish because they haven't asked me to reprise 'second hairy highlander from the right, waving fake sword, destined for cutting room floor' - i still smile when i see my old mates in the Glen Coe battle scene.

I love Cape Town, 2011 though drove the country flat, Joburg, garden route, Cape Town, Botswana border, little Karoo, Pretoria, Ermelo, PE, East London, Drakensberg, Battlefields, and yes.. Franschhoek, etc.. and reserves at Tau & Knysna. Big trip 😀
