Task is a good show that’s become great the past two weeks with at least four truly standout performances.

Ok. Phew. I thought I’d gotten terrible at my job if I’d missed a memoir from him on the calendar. hahaha. (Not saying it isn’t possible or even likely, just don’t like to see the evidence of my failure!) Good luck finding a publisher.

Oh I’m so excited for this! I read Quiet Flows the Una when I was in Sarajevo a couple winter’s back. I had no idea this memoir was coming out. Is it out in November?

“Visitation,” by Jenny Erpenbeck, especially if you liked the conceit behind the movie “Here,” as well as her most recent novel translated to English, “Kairos.” No sad English people but sad German people abound.

Quite possibly the most glaring example of the way the media has simply become a mouthpiece—and therefore an unwitting (if we’re being charitable) enabler—of this administration’s mendacity and damage.

Same with my youngest nephew. I just hope he gets finished before the collapse or all his classes are taken over by AI “professors.”

I really enjoyed getting to review this novel for many reasons, one of which is the fact that I got to send the review to my niece and she was actually interested because she loves the author.

Simon never misses. This is both legitimately funny and so disturbing. The number of people—from corporations to tech bros to apparently journalists—who just assume that AI is something everybody wants or will want as soon as they can have it is astonishing to me.

Annual reminder that without literary translators, most Nobel Prize-winning authors couldn’t be read by the committee/readers, so celebrate them too. Congrats @ottiliemulzet.bsky.social et al! This isn’t taking away from the author, it’s adding recognition of the miracle/labour/skill of translation.

I tried reading Klima several times, though admittedly many many years ago. Is there a novel of his you’d recommend over others?

I had actually seen zero episodes of that show until I watched the first one last night.

I feel your frustration (and aging!). I’m going on day five of waiting for biopsy results so that I can hopefully get scheduled for mohs in the week before I leave town for several months… Hope your’s gets finished in a timely fashion without much more discomfort. Take care.
