Amicus wasn't the one to usually get the havage tax for the household. Though, with his father called away by the bailiff, he was the only one left to collect it that cold winter's day. Paris was a large and bustling city. Yet despite being his hometown, he had spent very little time among the actual city or the people. There were accommodations that he and his father could have used near the market, but his father had chosen farther from the city center as a home due to the nature of his son's birth and the sour attitudes many in the city still had against both of them. Amicus knew the outskirts like the back of his hand now as a grown man, even which areas of the swamp lands were best for finding good wood worth whittling, but the city was another monster entirely. Amicus mostly knew the way to the big marketplace in the Les Halles, the pillories within it, or the Place de Grève. Not much else. Paris was a large city. It was easy to get lost in, so he didn't wander where he wasn't wanted or needed. Holding onto a decently sized sack stuck upon a long stick, Amicus made his way towards the busiest streets. The crowds became denser as the smell of various food stalls drifted into the air. His stomach growled as he took a greedy inhale to take in the scents, wishing he could stop in for lunch, but he really couldn't. People parted for him quickly upon the sight of him. Amicus didn't even blink. In fact, he appreciated the bit of room considering how he was a bit of a big guy. His sandy brown hair and familiar face usually gave his identity away as much as his height. Most people knew him, unless they weren't locals. Others quickly told travelers to move away from him to make up for those who didn't know. Amicus. The executioner's son. The executioner's assistant since he had reached adulthood a few years prior. And, when his father finally felt that his old bones couldn't swing a sword well enough to chop a foul man's head off at the neck in one swing, Paris's-
