‘We’re protecting our kids’: Teachers brace for ICE agents to conduct arrests on school campuses President Trump has stripped protections from immigration authorities for schools and churches, allowing for ICE agents to conduct arrests and raids on their grounds. Randi Weingarten, President of the American Federation of Teachers, says raids at schools would hurt all students and that teachers won’t be willing to let it happen. “We have an obligation to our kids during the day, so we're not just giving a kid to somebody else,” she said. “And frankly, if anybody in this administration is listening, you were elected to try and make life better for people, don't make it worse.”
