I do all my B&W in caffenol these days. It feels like some kind of voodoo to pull things out of my kitchen cabinets and make pictures with them.

I had students write entire papers with pen and paper and others that they typed. The handwritten ones, while more raw, were just BETTER. Their voices were actually present. They were more vulnerable. They reported feeling more invested in the handwritten work, actually proud of it.

The black bears have yet to make it up to our yard. They do pass through the state park behind us periodically, though.

They only have NINE left! C’mon folks…let’s clean them out again this year! Now more than ever the Trevor Project needs our support.

We have at least seven squirrels in our immediate area. I have seen them all congregate for peanuts and corn. We get a lot of pleasure out of watching their antics.

Our squirrels have grown spoiled and bold. They sit and wait for us to toss food out rather than running away. We feed the deer, too — carrots and apples and corn. Had four of them outside the window last night. Even the deer are bold. They let us get within maybe ten feet.

But you’ve got it now!

We have several other individual feeders hanging from the trees. This is the only “feeding station.” I do have corn out for the squirrels and toss them peanuts every morning.

I don’t bother trying to outsmart them. I just accept that they are more motivated to eat than I am motivated to stop them.

Currently down to 9! I am enjoying watching them disappear.

I have seen one descend upon a songbird and have watched said bird disappear instantly in an explosion of feathers. Barely saw the hawk. It was literally a blur.

It is intentionally situated to make the best of Golden Hour. I fully expect my hubby to shoot a ton of pictures with his really nice Nikon Z6.

@rockstarballet.bsky.social got me a #bird feeder for my birthday, and the birds found it within minutes of it going up and being filled. Now, how long until the #squirrels attack it? #backyardbirder

Thank you so much! I have to work on spring classes this week.

Four of my five classes have final grades posted. I was a beast and tore through all the work that was submitted this past week! One more class to go, and they turn in final work tonight. Want to put this semester to bed posthaste so I can turn my attention to getting ready for surgery on the 17th.

Happy early birthday! My birthday is tomorrow! So cheers to us!
