Was gifted a $5 📷 Focus Onn camera that contained some mystery film. Shot it and it came back green and underexposed and grainy as hell. Turns out they were loaded with expired Vision III 250D with the remjet removed (so said Reddit).

Also, I’m finally getting back to writing in my own physical journal after months away from it. It is one of the best contemplative practices I have, and it helps me manage my mental health. 10/10 recommend.

Finally able to give a small monthly pledge to my local public radio and TV stations, so I did it. It’s more important now than ever to support them in light of their defunding. Had it not been for public broadcasting, my world would have been so much smaller. #publicbroadcasting

The lens coming to me in trade is an f2, but that’s a lot faster than the f3.5-4.5 that the zoom is, so I’ll take it!

Well, the $15 KR-5 Super II arrived along with the 35-70mm Rikenon Zoom w/macro and it appears to work perfectly. Going to run a roll through it this weekend and see if that’s the case.

I may or may not have won another KR at auction for $15 just so I can get the Rikenon 35-70mm zoom that comes with it.

Just put roll #17 through the 1 liter bottle. I’m amazed you got 40 rolls out of your bottle! Wow! I’m eagerly awaiting the arrival of the 50mm. I feel like it will deliver much sharper results. Will run another roll through when it gets here.

They are! All the YouTubers I am re-learning film photography from are kids in their 20s.

Yes! Unplug and get to something tactile and real. Admittedly, I then end up having to scan those negatives, sooo….

While I will grab a quick snap with my phone, I prefer my film cameras for the rest of it. My husband has a very, very nice digital camera and it takes impossible photos that I couldn’t begin to replicate with my film cameras. But then, I don’t try to. I’m not after hyperrealism. I like some grain.

I was in San Francisco for the 75th anniversary celebration of the Maltese Falcon back in 2005. I got to visit Hammett’s apartment and meet his daughter and go on a walking tour of some of the locations referenced in the book. It was great lit-nerd fun!
