People post those "It's 2004 and you just got home from school on Friday and this is your weekend" with images from Halo or World of Warcraft or whatever and I just got hit by the same thing by hearing the intro to a Houston/Seoul match from seven years ago.

I watch old NFL games on YouTube for nostalgia, so the other day I loaded up a 2018 OWL match for the first time.

As soon as the music (which I think I haven't heard since 2023 Finals) hit, I thought, "Sweet, six hours of Overwatch League coming up!" and then got really, really sad.

Overwatch 2 Director Says Blizzard Wants to 'Get Back to' Story Content After Fans Feel It 'Dropped the Ball' With PvE - IGN Blizzard game director Aaron Keller says things like animated shorts and other story content would need to "come back" for Overwatch 2 to be "firing on all cylinders."

As someone who loved the Overwatch League, they 100% should have done this and made OW into a multimedia juggernaut instead of investing in e-sports.
