Few people even know about this; when people are asked in surveys how child mortality has changed the majority says it has stagnated or increased.
If you consider that many don't know about humanity's biggest achievement, then it's not surprising that many are so pessimistic about our future.

Refugees in east Africa suffer from high levels of depression, making it harder to rebuild lives β new study
Depression can severely hinder the ability of refugees to rebuild their lives and integrate into host communities.
Our latest piece in The Conversation shares findings from our study on refugee mental health in East Africa.
We surveyed ~16,000 refugees & host populations to explore the knock-on effects of depression on jobs, income, and nutrition.
