Ralsei whines, a pathetic little noise, attempting to freeze in place as if being just still enough will protect him . ]

[ Backing up, he trips on rock — landing on his bottom with a small "oof" before looking up at the entity with pure horror in his eyes .

Struggling to find his words, he strains a small fragment of a sentence . ]

[ Instinctively, with preservation — Ralsei steps back . He shrinks into his scarf as much as he possibly can, attempting to make himself look as small as possible .

He's shaking . He's shaking like a leaf — eyeing the entity like a kicked, cornered dog . ]

[ And most of all ... what does he say to Susie ? To ...

... A cold chill runs down his spine . He feels a dark presence — closer than one should ever be to him .

It's not a Dark Fountain . It's not a fellow Darkner .

... Slowly, he turns .

[ Ralsei stands at the edge of the indigo cliffs — his fur frazzled and standing on ends amid his recent grave discovery .

Kris had fallen . In a manner that magic couldn't heal .

What was he to do ? How does he even begin to go about addressing this ? ]

His paws fly to his face . He sinks and slumps over onto his fallen friend . Loud, mournful sobs escape him, only barely muffled with his face buried into their ascot . ]

[ He rubs his paws together . Magic charging up and out through his fingertips like electricity — almost like venom, with the way his chest aches .

RALSEI cast HEALPRAYER !

... It does nothing .

RALSEI cast DUALHEAL !

[ The SOUL ... Where's the SOUL ? Is it anywhere around here ... ? Maybe Ralsei could --

[ The name rips hard out of his chest — a high, broken cry as he falls to his knees right in front of them, his chest tight and heavy with panic as he begins to hyperventilate . ]

[ He checks their pulse . Oh god . Oh no . They're dead . ]

This very long life spent mostly in an indefinite eternal childhood where he never really grew up until he left the site of his trauma(s) is a really gut-punching way of making physically real the kind of very old child you become when you grow up too fast.

[ The red stains his paws . It seeps into his fur . It splashes and stains his coat . It sickeningly squelches as he trudges through it .

All of a sudden, the dream has turned into a 𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙚 . ]
