Same person I was on that other platform. Here to read, hopefully catch up with folks I enjoyed conversing with, maybe meet some new folks, too.

I could have easily (easily!) been one of those but for the people that cared enough to confront me and my dumb opinions and helped me to grow and learn.

We’re going to learn the hard way why things were the way they were.

More rural, dependent on extraction economies (logging, in particular) and a lot of those places were devastated when things like logging started to go away. Lots of anger at spotted owl habitat kinds of things, seen as govt overreach. Dems=govt to them, so dems bad.
31.07.2025 19:14 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0The ability to get elected in that CD. It is a very right-leaning district and she resonates with voters there enough to get Ds, indys and lean Rs to vote for her, and even then just barely squeaks past the worst R candidates. There aren’t enough purely D voters there to carry someone to the left.
31.07.2025 19:08 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I don’t know if she does, but I also don’t know if you’re going to get a candidate to the left of MGP in that district that’ll be viable in the general. I’m not in that CD but I’ve spent an awful lot of time there, and the fact we get even that is something of a marvel to me.
