13.01.2026 21:02 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0--I think there's something that could be visually interesting if I mash these rusty old, high texture faux-gouache approaches to my enviro elements and keeping the bold, flat linework to my subjects.

12.01.2026 01:22 — 👍 13 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0The number 1 way to screw over your ability to do art is to neglect the needs of your flesh. Assuming you are mostly able bodied: make body movement, rest, and taking your meds if you need them a regular part of your art making practice.

12.01.2026 00:20 — 👍 16 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Increasingly I feel like I favor furry because it espouses the idea that humans, for all our mastery over nature, are still animals. We need to nap and wander and frolic and utter strange noises. It is good for us to be weird little guys, which is something society is so committed to stripping away.

Photo of a page with notes on how to draw chibi characters. I am pretty tired, but to get the gist across: I have two styles of chibi character drawing: micro and nano. Micro chibis have more even but still exaggerated and simplified proportions. Nano chibis are very, very simple and have stout, bean-like forms to them. Vellum paper with example drawings of each style is taped to the page, which can be listed to reveal the sketch of the examples underneath.

Things I did recently: compiled a few drawing guides I made for myself into a physical thing i can tuck into my bag and dig out for reference when need be.

◾Keep a clear plastic sheet with your sketchbook to help with bleed-through.

If the new year also means starting a new sketchbook, here's some tips that help me:
◾Purposely draw a poorly done doodle on the first page. It'll kill that new sketchbook intimidation.
◾fancy sketchbooks are cool and all, but cheaper ones allow you to feel less guilty about "messing up".
