Why is a basic tunnel like we've been building for decades in any way special, and worthy of a sci-fi name like "hyper loop"?

Epistemic decay perfectly describes what's happening in the USA.
It's about making it a legal requirement for the government to set a target for poverty reduction, not criminalising homelessness.

You're having annual shots?
In the UK only the elderly and vulnerable get those. Most other people have only had one or two vaccinations back during the pandemic.

What?
When I pre ordered a car, I was hoping for... a car.
"misleading"?

That's not "always", that's relatively recent. I bought my Tesla in 2015 when he was widely regarded as a force for good by everyone, including the left. Mostly the left, even.
07.05.2025 06:37 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0That's revisionist nonsense. He's changed a lot. Self-radicalised by feeding off Twitter reactions, descended into moronity.

The money is to create the factory.
They don't need 200 million to finish the prototype - that's pretty much there.
Yes, Trump tariffs might be the nail in the coffin.

04.05.2025 21:42 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It depends on the volume you're trying to achieve - small scale is much cheaper, and that's originally what they were going for, but preorders scaled and so have their ambitions.
Would have been better to deliver sooner then grow organically in my view.
Check the picture.

I still hold out hope that they get this thing off the ground. But it's not likely. Their activity for a while has been to tour a prototype to raise money. Not good.

04.05.2025 07:37 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0It's been "next year" for years. I had a preorder but got a refund after I got fed up with the lack of transparency and honesty.

Delivery has been "next year" for about 7 years now ๐
And there are other companies that have actually rolled this out now.
I think it's arrogance. Around 2016 they ditched MobilEye and tried to develop an in house solution. Result was no self driving at all for new Tesla cars for over a year as it was harder than they thought.
We live in interesting times.
