Though I have physically escaped, it feels like the whole country has become the house I was raised in, and as such, there are still moments where I feel terrified and powerless. But I help how and where I'm able. (7/8)

It has also opened what feels like a bottomless pit of rage in my stomach. I watched them rage against anything that didn't align with their beliefs from behind closed doors. Occasionally I still get upset with myself for not connecting the dots sooner, but younger Ren was trying to survive a household that openly hated core facets of their being. Time and distance has allowed me to introspect, deconstruct my upbringing, and start healing. (5/8)

Could not fathom that they couldn't read between the lines. Thought that for sure they wouldn't vote for someone so obviously against immigrants of any kind when one of their own mothers is a naturalized citizen. I have unfortunately been proven wrong in every election since 2016. (4/8)

For the longest time, I think I was in denial about the kind of people they were. They volunteered to feed the homeless during Thanksgiving and did Meals on Wheels. I thought surely they couldn't be so deep in their beliefs that they'd always pick the Republican candidate no matter what. (3/8)

I was raised by two seasonal-Catholic, Filipino republicans. The kind of people that deny their race except to make jokes, and then pretend they're white the rest of the time. Two people who are, at the very MOST, 2 generations away from the person who first brought their families to America (2/8)

The Between is the first full streamed series I've been in. It has been a blast! I have had so much fun co-telling this story and seeing where it goes.

I have enjoyed so much how much we support and indulge each other.
