It would have been a dogshit utilization of a guy the caliber of Rude, but mechanically, the matches probably wouldn't have been bad--consider something like Hogan/Rude vs. Flair/Anderson, or maybe Hogan/Rude/Sting vs. Flair/Anderson/Vader. Not ideal, but could have been worse.

Though the prospect of him getting little-buddied by Hogan as a face hanger-on is funny to contemplate.

I wouldn't say he ever turned face, but he was laying the groundwork for a feud with Vader right before he went and got hurt working with Sting in Japan. I think he had a lot more opportunity to excel as a face in the absence of Hogan, certainly.

I don't dislike Johnny TV on balance, but he and Dalton Castle put on one of the worst Fights Without Honor in recent memory and, while he may have been very flashy a couple of decades ago, his athleticism isn't that standout in 2026 AEW. Not sure what more I'd like him to be doing.

The fact that they were already booking Max as a heel in every context other than Cody took some of the weight out of his betrayal of Cody, but the ten lashes and the Wardlow cage match were great. I also think MJF winning the blowoff helped make MJF.

I was five in 1991 and there was WWF on USA and WCW on TNT. They each had numerous shows on both networks. The on-ramps were plentiful.

Sports fans become upset with fixed contests because they expect a legitimate one. Wrestling fans know what they're watching is fake, so there's no feeling hoodwinked, only an appreciation for the performance and the art.
