Robert Burns was initiated into Freemasonry on 4th July 1781, at the age of 22, in St David’s Lodge No. 174 in Tarbolton, Ayrshire. Over the years, he became an active and highly respected member of several Masonic lodges.

Bus he kept his diaries updated and they indicate Mr Wesley was near London on the night the other Mr Wesley was made a Master Mason. His nephew, Samuel Wesley (1766-1837), however, was the first Grand Organist of the United Grand Lodge of England. He was a notable Freemason and composer. (2/2)

John Wesley (1703-1791) was an English Preacher and founder of the Methodist movement. He was NOT a Freemason. A confusion of records about a certain John Wesley being made Master Mason in Ireland made people think he was a Fellow Brother. (1/2)
