You get the negotiated pricing write down with insurance. I would prefer the very high deductible (assuming lower premiums offset it). One advantage would be we would only hit deductible in years like cancer treatment, so paying out of pocket for out of network would be less of an issue.

Last year the difference between a $7500 and $15000 deductible was $7500 so we were better off w/higher during low usage year & neutral in a high one. This year we pay $27,502 policy $12,000 family deductible which I think we will hit. We probably would do well with $31,000 deductible honestly.

Telehealth can be a godsend. I don’t want to drive 45 minutes each way every three months for a conversation with a doctor about if my kid’s ADHD meds are working well and they can concentrate in school. It doesn’t save me $ but it saves me time.

Thank you-I’m paying $27,502/year health insurance family of 4 w/$6,000 INDIVIDUAL deductible. Sick of the message that that is ok as long as we can still afford to eat. I worry that access even to that will collapse & with pre-existing conditions I won’t be able to purchase coverage in the future.
