Creepy Kansas Road Trip - YouTube

I did a whole Youtube miniseries of them throughout Kansas. Thinking about a followup for "Creepy Colorado".

Also while in Teller County I stopped by the historic Victor Hotel and took a selfie with the elevator.

Interview went well and then I hiked like six miles through Teller County, bringing my total hiked distance in the past week to ~16 miles. Saw bear tracks, mountain lion tracks, bobcat tracks, sheep tracks, and fox tracks in the process.

It's my half birthday today and I'm spending it driving up into the mountains to interview with my dream employer. Wish me luck!

Like apparently there's something called a bop house where people become millionaires by doing tiktok all day? Can we start a scream house where people become millionaires by writing weird gay horror?

There's something deeply depressing about learning that 99.999% of authors have to work day jobs to pay the bills while other people can become millionaires by being assholes on the internet and fistfighting other assholes on the internet. Authors should have absolute rockstar status by default.

My hot take for today is video games shouldn't be hard. Life is already stressful and frustrating enough. Why the hell would I submit myself to a stressful and frustrating simulation to relax? Give me easy video games any day.

there is no metric by which this is true. even 2028 primary polling (which is meaningless in general but seems like a fair yardstick here) doesn’t have him on top.

just a brazen attempt to impose him on us by the rich and the commentariat.

just became aware of this--the regime wants to clear-cut massive chunks of Oregon's old growth forests in the name of timber production.

you have until March 23rd to comment.

i know we have endless fucking things to scream at politicians about--this is an important one too.

Did another two mile hike this morning. Was supposed to hang out with someone I was probably gonna hike with tomorrow but those plans canceled. Then Monday I have a job interview and then guess what? Checking out a new hiking spot up in the mountains.
I love hiking and Colorado is great for it.

Gandalf: β€œAlways after a defeat and a respite, the Shadow takes another shape and grows again”

'I wish it need not have happened in my time,' said Frodo. 'So do I, said Gandalf, 'and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

Stuff like better schools, better roads, power grids that don't go down every winter, police accountability, legal protections for LGBT people, pro union laws, cleaner air (outside wildfire season), cleaner water, and better chances of getting a public sector job due to better funding in my field.

My pinned post disappeared again so HI! If you like gorey monster stories, suspenseful mysteries, supernatural thrillers, cryptid horror, and books where the killer in the woods is a metaphor for grief, you should check out my debut novel, "The Woods: A Horror Novel", out now!

(I sort of did the mountains version of this by moving to Colorado Springs instead of Denver. The quality-of-life difference between Missouri, the Florida of the Midwest, and Colorado, one of the bluest states there is, is STRIKING.)

Great news, there are rural parts of New York State too and they are gorgeous. I'd much rather live upstate than in NYC myself, but so many of the social safety net protections are at the state level that you'd still get the benefits of living in a blue state.
