He said, "When I win, I will immediately bring prices down, starting on Day One"

He lied

But what's worse-he didn't even TRY to lower prices

Instead, almost as soon he got into office, he started hitting people with tariffs-making things infinitely worse

New reporting from @propublica.org finds that Oklahomaโ€™s social studies standards, written with the help of the right-wing group behind Project 2025, now include roughly 40 points about Christianity that students should learn as well as skepticism about the 2020 election and COVID-19โ€™s origins.

October is #BreastCancerAwareness month.
As of 2024, 2.4M women worldwide received Herceptin. It also helped scientists realize that #breastcancer is heterogenous, paving the way for more targeted treatments. The 5 yr survival rate went from 75% in 1980 to 92%.

Ritzy dinners and a dog's birthday party: Life's pretty normal for Congress and Trump despite shutdown While thousands of federal workers go without pay, the government shutdown has had little impact on the day-to-day happenings on Capitol Hill and in the White House.

โ€œWhile thousands of federal workers are furloughed - or fired - and trying to stay afloat without paychecks, the ones responsible for the shutdown are literally, and figuratively, eating cake.โ€

I've never grasped why the public isn't always in full support of independent regulatory oversight and transparency of the food and water supply. So many allow themselves to be gaslit by corporate interest that is always trying to cut costs. You'd think we could all agree on a safe food supply.

There were 70 human H5N1 cases in 2024. The response in 2024 could have been better, but at least it was a response. There is no response now. Maybe over the summer it wasn't such a big deal without as much flu around. But H5N1 is around now. And CDC isn't.

This US government shutdown is different: what it means for science President Trumpโ€™s budget office lays out guidelines for mass lay-offs across the federal government.

โ€œAmerican science, the gold-standard and world-leading science and innovation enterprise, is being destroyedโ€ฆ.Congress has a rare moment of leverage to check Trumpโ€™s executive overreach and it must stand up and do so.โ€

Justice Eddins went even further in a concurrence joined by two other justices. He flamed the U.S. Supreme Court for choosing to
"steamroll" the First Amendment's separation of church and state by mandating government support of religion. He wrote:
The federal wall cracks. The Supreme Court's recent religious clause cases wreck the relationship between free exercise and non-establishment.... The Roberts Court casually dismisses the lessons of American and world history, the warnings of prominent early Americans, and the judiciary's storied legal minds. Bad things happen unless government and religion are completely separated.
Justice Eddins also wrote about something you and I have been talking about for a long time, which is the conservative supermajority making up facts. He called out Kennedy v.
Bremerton, the notorious "praying coach" case, writing: "As it often does, the Court repackaged and whitewashed facts to achieve a desired outcome." This is the same point that Sherrilyn Ifill has made on the show about how the record in that case, and so many others, is ignored.

I am pleased to report that Hawaii Supreme Court Justice Todd Eddins has dropped another total evisceration of the Supreme Court.

He says originalism is a fraudโ€”and the Republican justices are shamelessly making up facts and history to impose radical Christian nationalism: slate.com/news-and-pol...
