Definitely hypnotizing, makes me think of this comic (that I can now only find without attribution and in bad quality x_X) even more than the previous one.

The automatic translation feature is the bane of my existence now. It used to be that I could Google a phrase or word to see if they're commonly used, or, for example, to see if a specific tool is called what I think it's called. But automatic translation gives so many false positives.

It wasn't a completely straightforward path: on my way there I was also a teacher, a copywriter and a media analyst. But ultimately I am now exactly where I want to be :)

I wanted to be a translator ever since I became aware translators existed. I started picking up translation gigs when I was an university student and later I became a full time translator once I realized that having some sort of 9-5 corporate job is not something I ever want to do.

Don't be silly, we all know translations of bestselling books just appear out of thin air, no humans involved 😉

Also: people who clearly just don't like the book (the plot, the characters), but choose to write "maybe it's the translator's fault". The translator did not come up with the story! 😭

Aaah, you unlocked some memories for me, I did something like that twice, a long time ago. One agency paid for the test, the other didn't and also was like "if you don't have time for this project, just do the test and then somebody else will do the actual translation" which felt dishonest...
